We’d been looking forward to the Oktoberfest Wein Festival at North Mountain Vineyards since we first heard about it a few weeks back when we visited them. After a late start for me, arriving at the cabin at noon, Mary and I headed out for the fest over in Mauertown (thanks to Andy and Howard for directions over the mountain!). We finally arrived at around 3:30, among the last guests to arrive.

We were surprised by the crowd, and we had a lot of fun out there. The vineyard is a pretty charming place – it has really come of age under the current ownership and we had a great time enjoying the polka band in the big tent, and checking out the vendors who’d come – a local farm with baked goods, jams and honey, someone selling German foods and souvenirs, and even a fellow who carved walking sticks for volks marches.

The other bottle in the photo is the apple wine blend – we picked up a couple of these to serve during the holidays, most likely as a mulled wine.
And here are a couple more photos from the fest. I’ve inserted a permalink to the previous post about this vineyard below the photos.
