Northern Virginia has a lovely spring, and since the inner suburbs - like Alexandria and Arlington - are neighborhoods that are 80+ years old, we're blessed with mature plantings of azaeleas, accompanied by some remaining tall oaks.
"Green Acres" it ain't, but we love owning and visiting the Hawksbill Cabin, near Stanley and Luray, Virginia, and a wealth of outdoor activities, including: the "World Famous" Shenandoah River, Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns, and Massanutten Resort. From time to time we'll post about other stuff, too. As the number of blog posts grows, we've added a few navigation tools in the right column to facilitate getting around the site.

Spring Flowers - Compare and Contrast
It's been less than two months since we had the late winter snow storm. But with the azaeleas and other flowers out in full bloom right now, I thought it would be fun to put some pictures up comparing then and now....

I remember the day that snow came in! Pretty sure you had more in Alexandria than out here! I definitely prefer the look of Spring to the snow! Hope to see you guys soon! Btw, the Farmers market opens this weekend (in the Allegheny Pwr pkng lot)
Cheers!
Howard
